Jason Elam Jason Elam (born March 8, 1970 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida) is an American football placekicker who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 1993 NFL Draft. He played college football at Hawaii. Elam has also played for the Atlanta Falcons. A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Elam won two Super Bowl rings with the Broncos and is tied with Tom Dempsey for the longest field goal in NFL history at 63 yards.

Jeff Reed Reed graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1997. While there, Reed was captain of the soccer team and kicker for the football team. He was a letterman in both sports. His senior year the soccer team went to the state finals but lost, 2-1. During his senior year, Reed kicked a 54-yard field goal, the second longest in North Carolina history, against Providence High School, setting a new school record. In football, he won All-Conference and All-County honors.

Crosby's first two seasons as a professional have seen him post more points than any player in NFL history during their first two seasons. The Sporting News named Crosby to its All-Decade team for the first nine years of the 2000s, thus enshrining him as the best collegiate kicker of the decade.

In 2008, Gostkowski led the NFL with 148 points, the most by a Patriots player since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger and the second highest total in team history (Gino Cappelletti, 155 in 1964).

Tom Dempsey Prior to 1974 in the NFL, the goal posts were on the goal lines instead of the end lines. With time running out in the game, the Saints attempted a place kick with holder Joe Scarpati spotting at the Saints' own 37 yard line. The snap from Jackie Burkett was good, and Dempsey nailed the field goal with a couple of feet to spare. The win was one of only two for the Saints in that otherwise-forgettable season. Dempsey's kick shattered the seventeen-year old mark of 56 yards set by Colts' kicker Bert Rechichar
