The only Maltese prime minister to die in office was nationalist leader Enrico Mizzi, whom died on the 20th. December of 1950. Representatives from all parties, including those that had vilified him throughout his political career, all gave praise to him and his personality which was such that led to his supporters to call him "cavaliere senza macchia e senza paura" (knight without blight or fear). One of the MPs stated these words (in Maltese) - "notwithstanding that he suffered everything, he suffered deportation, a Court Martial, insults and treachery he never changed his stand but remained of resolute character, he remained Maltese, the best amongst the Maltese..." - Who said these words?
