Ananda College, Colombo was established in November 1, 1886, by the Buddhist Theosophical Society led by Colonel Henry Steel Olcott. DS Senanyake College
D.S.Senanyake College is an educational institute in Sri Lanka , which is named after the first Prime minister of Independent Sri Lanka, Rt.Hon. Mahanama College
Mahanama College was fouded in 1954 through the dedication of Mr. W.A.K. Gunawardana at Sri Wardanarama Colombo 04 with five students in the class. In 1958 the school was registered as a government assisted junior school. 1960 Mr J. D. A Jayakodi was appointed as the first principal of the school. Today the school accommodates 5000 students The academic staff of 150+ is led by the principal Mr. W. A. Premalal Kumarasiri.
Nalanda College
Nalanda College was established by P. de S. Kularatne as an offshoot of Ananda College on 1925. It was an era when the demand for students to enter Ananda College was immensely high. As a result, in 1923 the then principal of Ananda College Mr P. de S. Kularatne leased the bare land adjoining to Ananda College playground located in Campbell Place and moved some classes of Ananda. In 1925 that Mr Kularatne registered this Ananda as a separate school named Nalanda.
Royal College
Royal College was founded in January 1835. The oldest public school in the country is providing both primary and secondary education. Royal College is often referred to as the of Sri Lank [ and it was selected as one of best innovative colleges in the world by Microsoft in 2009. Royal College has produced many distinguished alumni, including Presidents of two countries, a Sultan, and three Prime Ministers.
St. John's College
St. John's School was started with 14 pupils on May 5, 1915. In 1934, the mixed school of St. John's was separated and a Boys' and a Girls' school was established, henceforth to be known as the College of St. John, Nugeogda

St. Joseph's College is a Catholic educational institution in Colombo,founded in 1896 by French missionaries, with Rev Christopher Ernst Bonjean playing a leading role. St. Peter's College
St. Peter's College is distinguished boys only primary to secondary school in the Bambalapitiya zone of Colombo. It was founded in 1922.In 1919, just after the end of World War I, Rev. Fr. M.J. Le Goc, Rector of St Joseph's College, Colombo, had a vision of a college in the southern suburbs of Colombo. While he was traveling one day on his famous motor bicycle with this idea in mind, Fr Le Goc spotted a block of cinnamon land in Bambalapitiya which belonged to Mr. E.C. De Fonseka.
St.Thomas' College
The College of St Thomas the Apostle, popularly known as "S. Thomas' College", is a private Anglican school providing primary and secondary education in Sri Lanka. Former pupils include four former Prime Ministers of Sri Lanka. The College which is under the Anglican Church of Ceylon, is run by a Board of Governors which is chaired by the Anglican Bishop of Colombo, who is also known as the "Visitor of the College". The administration of the College itself is headed by a head master.
Thurstan College
Thurstan College is a National School in Colombo and provides both primary and secondary education. Founded in 1950 and named the Senior Government School, it accommodated students of Royal Junior School who could not gain admission to Royal College Colombo. Thurstan College today has a student population of 2500.It is situated in Colombo 7, in between University of Colombo & Royal College.
Wesley College
Wesley College is a Methodist educational institution in Colombo. In 1858 Rev. Joseph Rippon (a great uncle of Rev. Henry Highfield) wanted to establish a superior educational institution for the Wesleyan Methodist Mission in South Ceylon. On March 2 1874 (the death anniversary of Rev. John Wesley) Wesley College was founded in the City Mission Buildings at Dam Street, Pettah Sri Lanka. Wesley’s first Principal was Rev. Samuel Wilkin and first Vice Principal, Rev. D. Henry Pereira.
Zahira College
Zahira College is the very first Muslim school in Sri Lanka and was founded in 1892 as Al Madrasathul Zahira by two of the most prominent Sri Lankan Muslims of the day, I. L. M. Abdul Aziz and Arasi Marikar Wapchie Marikar, with the active patronage of Ahmed Orabi Pasha of Egypt.
